Workshop Topics
From practical sustainable design methodologies to negotiation tactics when pitching ideas to business leaders, our sustainable design series will guide you through integrating sustainability into your design process, and give you the chance to apply what you’ve learned in a real-world project!
-
Where do you start with sustainable design? In this workshop, we’ll cover the sustainable design process, learn how to align design goals with corporate commitments, and share where you can start integrating sustainability into your work.
-
Sustainable design requires an understanding of all the systems and stakeholders your products affect. Learn how to map the ecosystem your product exists in, and how you can use that map to find new sustainable design opportunities.
-
Learn to measure and map all the environmental impacts associated with your product using a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). This will help you prioritize and pinpoint key leverage points for change in your design, and connect them to key business opportunities.
-
Once you’ve mapped your product’s impacts and identified key leverage points, it’s time to tie it back to the business by engaging with relevant stakeholders. Practice making the case for sustainability-driven decisions to demonstrate viability and obtain stakeholder buy-in.
-
Learn how you can work with other stakeholders in the product design ecosystem to find and prove the opportunities that will be a win for your business, your customers, and your planet.
-
Once you’ve identified key opportunities in your sustainable design process, it’s time to brainstorm ways to address these pain points. Learn brainstorming tactics that put sustainability first to generate ideas that are environmentally sustainable as well as desirable, feasible, and viable.
-
Once you’ve landed on an idea that leverages sustainable design, how do you prove it will work to your management team? Learn how to test out how your proposals might work to prove their validity to leadership teams.
-
Sustainable design is never over. There is always room to improve! But a huge part of the process involves collecting data and communicating results to leadership, investors, and customers. You’ll learn how to tell a compelling story that integrates the business benefits with the impact - so that you can keep doing this work!
